Academy for Community Transition
The Academy for Community Transition, located on the Gibson Ek High School campus (379 1st Place SE, Issaquah), is designed to assist students with developmental disabilities move towards the most independent lifestyle possible. Our program provides community-based employment experience, with focus on social skills and the development of real world vocational skills, as well as travel training and recreational opportunities.
The program helps students apply for employment and explore career clusters, creating the possibility of increased economic independence. We encourage students to engage in independent decision-making to foster increased self-esteem and self-awareness. The students also have opportunities to plan leisure time and social activities.
Our mission is to prepare individuals with disabilities for full integration into the community, with emphasis on employment, independence, and community access.
We believe that a supportive environment supports quality learning and encourages self-reliance.
